Jay Mariotti’s Really Bad Weekend

Jay Mariotti, former Chicago Sun-Times columnist and current writer for AOL.com and contributor to ESPN, was arrested this weekend after an incident involving his girlfriend.

The Chicago media has taken great delight in Mariotti’s circumstances and sportswriters, reporters, and talk show hosts are lining up to drop a shovelful of dirt on the grave of Mariotti’s career.

Is this treatment fair, given that Mariotti has been found guilty of nothing? Should ESPN leave Mariotti on the air until the legal issues are resolved?
